Project Description
This project was a conceptual idea of a museum exhibit to enhance understanding of movement processes. The final result was a series of short modules which could be used in an informal learning setting. Each of the modules focus on a different movement concept and task, including activities to enhance understanding of balance, assessment, creative movement and virtual movement.

Outcomes
This project used a process of development which included audience analysis, conceptual analysis, stating a goal of instruction, designing instructional objectives, and creating a series of modules which adhere to these specifications. It incorporates informal learning, which relies more on the experience of the individual users. After designing this concept, I was able to re purpose the concept into an actual series of learning modules which would enhance balance in the older adult. As a result of this class, the Wii Balance Board and Wii Fit systems were identified as a unique way to help seniors to understand balance concepts. We bought the systems for our department, and developed a new balance class, which included course components derived from the MoveRite plan. In this respect, this artifact illustrates not only the design and development of a concept, but also the creation of a new instructional plan.

Challenges
The main challenge was following a process to develop a product. My past development projects have lacked process, relying too much on what the product should be. The systematic act of designing the modules, identifying the components, creating a way to use these components and finally compiling a general idea helped me to understand process as a way of developing new course ideas. A secondary challenge was the conceptual analysis of the project. For example, the project describes a kiosk which would provide preliminary information about the users, and could then be used to provide feedback on how the user can improve their movement and health. Although this level of interactivity would add value to the exhibit, I was unable to find an example of what it would entail, and this proved to be difficult as I developed the artifact.

Growth
The informal learning environment is an effective way to deliver education to the older adult, particularly when the subject matter is conceptual. This project helped me to visualize a way of delivery which is important to our older learners, but is probably underutilized by faculty. At a time where we are intent on student learning outcomes, sometimes outcome of an informal learning experience is hard to measure. This project also helped me to understand the process of development, from planning, to creation to completion. It formed the basis for future courses, and improved my own curriculum development process.
